“My weight loss goal is to get down to what I told the DMV I weigh.” – Unknown
As spring begins to shift into summertime – when the livin’ is easy – many folks experience “beach body panic.” I know the feeling. I used to absolutely dread donning shorts, sleeveless clothes or (God forbid!) a bathing suit. I know the pain, frustration, and shame of weight management, as I have had to manage my weight my entire life.
Many people want a shortcut with the new spate of injectables like Ozempic, Wegovy, Overnight, Rybelsus (all Semgalutides), or Mounjaro or Zepbound (both Tirzepatides). While these medications are indeed miraculous for some, there are consequences with them. First, you must remain on them indefinitely. Second, they have side effects. These include increased risks of thyroid cancer and pancreatitis. As well as hypoglycemia, constipation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and allergic reactions.
There is another way and it is not dieting. It is a mindset that supports a new lifestyle. Hypnosis can help one commit to remaining on the healthy path for life with a balance of proper nutrition, sufficient exercise, and sleep through an appropriate weight loss pace to ensure permanence. Quick weight loss is typically quickly followed by quick weight gain!
Weight Loss Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy can dissolve resistance and enhance a commitment to doing what it takes to not only look better and feel better but also to have a higher quality of life and actually enjoy the process. It helped me personally lose over 40 lbs. many years ago and keep it off, and I have the honor of helping scores of clients attain their ideal weight or dress or suit size. My record client loss is 186 lbs. with hypnotherapy for weight management. This woman, who graced me with her before and after photos featured on my website – on the weight loss hypnosis page – went on to become a certified hypnotherapist herself!
The Harvard School of Public Health finds “…roughly two out of three U.S. adults are overweight (69 percent) and one out of three are obese (36 percent).”

My personal story of weight loss began in my early 20s when I entered the Miss Atlanta Pageant. At that time, I was the stereotypical chunky opera singer, and this pageant included a bathing suit competition. I was mortified trying on swimsuits, thinking, “Oh, Lord, this won’t do! Can’t I just sing some more High C’s?” No, I had to walk the catwalk like all the other girls in swimsuits. Yikes!
I had 8 weeks to lose 40 lbs. This was long before I learned about the power of hypnosis, but I suppose I was sort of a natural self-hypnotist. I kept telling myself that I could do anything for 8 weeks. And I did. I gave up all fast foods, sugars, and most carbs and started running.
Running was something I lived in mortal fear of as a kid in school PE classes. I only ran if it was to the pizza parlor or candy store. Not naturally athletic, I figured if I could walk, I could run. I started with one lap at a local school track. That was ¼ of a mile. I felt like Rocky! Each week I added another lap, and by 8 weeks, I was up to 2 miles. For me, this was a major accomplishment.
Fortunately, I fell in love with healthy food and running during those 8 weeks. And I’ve remained on the healthy path ever since. If I can do it, anyone can.
Hypnotherapy helps clients overcome sugar addictions and resist junk foods. It helps people create and enjoy an exercise plan. And remain committed to health and fitness without deprivation of occasional treats.
