And we say goodbye to a legend today as Muhammad Ali is laid to rest in his native Louisville, Kentucky.
He was a master hypnotist. Not in the certified sense of the word, but Ali had the mindset of a champ from the get-go. His self-proclaimed declarations of his greatness, mixed with humor and Southern charm, delighted us all in and out of the ring. He psyched himself up, psyched his opponents out, and psyched the public in for decades. Mass hypnosis indeed.
Ali’s greatest fights, however, were outside the boxing ring. He went the distance for his beliefs, peace, and health.
“I’m so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and was in bed before the room was dark.”
Rest in peace, Ali. Make God laugh.
