Addiction in the Family
If you find yourself screaming for hope and help with addictions, I’d highly recommend you pick up this just-released book by my esteemed colleague and renowned interventionist, Dr. Louise Stanger. ADDICTION IN THE FAMILY is a concise, easy-to-read primer on recovery for the family who is affected by someone struggling with addiction(s). This is one of those books you really do not want to have to read; but it is a lifesaver for those who need it.
Addictions have been, unfortunately, sharply on the rise due the impact of COVID’s isolation, unemployment, stress, and the enormous resulting anxiety and depression. As well, holidays in particular can be quite triggering for those who have the disease of addiction or are affected by a loved one who has it. Dr. Stanger’s timely book offers help as well as hope for those suffering from, or affected by, addictions. It is also a bookshelf must-have for teachers, coaches, medical and mental health experts who want a quick, handy reference guide.
Stay healthy, my friends.
“From an outsider’s perspective, it would seem like I had it all. It was actually a very lonely time for me because I was suffering from alcoholism… I’ve been the lead in movies, on television shows and nominated for Emmy. But the best thing I can say about me is that people who can’t stop drinking come up to me and say, ‘Can you help me?’ And I can say, ‘Yes.'” – Matthew Perry, Actor
